Save Wild WalkLast chance to walk on the wild side?

Fans of Wildwalk

This page is dedicated to fans of Wildwalk, who have a web page on Wildwalk that they would like to share…

A young supporter of Wildwalk, Elliott Ferris, who describes himself as Wildwalk’s ‘biggest fan’ has devoted a page on his personal website to its closure and has started a petition himself and has already collected 59 signatures (as of 17/2/07). To view his page, visit: www.freewebs.com/elliottferrisandfamily/savewildwalkbristol.htm

Save Wildwalk has received letters and pictures in support of the campaign, from year 5 pupils at Luckwell Primary School in Bedminster. The children are all very upset to think that one of their favourite facilities will be closing, and have their own ideas as to what might help.

One of these children, Emily, has a web page and mini petition, which you can see at: www.kidspetitionsonline.wetpaint.com

Save Wildwalk would love to show all 28 letters and pictures, but unfortunately there is not enough space. Here is a selection of them and below are some of the children’s comments…

“I think children born after April 07 will have been told about IMAX and Wildwalk and will think they have missed a chance of a lifetime.”
Emily

“Children find the Wildwalk as a rainforest, as they would have to go halfway across the world to see those butterflies.”
Ayla

“You could put like a climbing wall, a see-saw which is a log with two beavers at the end for seats and a little playground where you can hold wildlife animals.”
Ricky

“The animals in Wildwalk have adapted to their habitats so they will need to be in the same kind of habitat.”
Ben

“I am shocked that they’re closing the IMAX and Wildwalk because children in the future are going to be upset that they didn’t get to go. I think that they should lower their prices so more people will come. Maybe they can put something that will attract more people.”
Sam

“The people that used to work there might be poor and have to wait for a week or two for another job.”
George

“Some animals are too fast, you will never catch them. Some animals will die from no food. And you need to pay for an animals carer.”
Leighton

“I think the Council are out of their mind if they think they can close the place. We should put posters all over Bristol. We should tell more people to go to At-Bristol. Shame on them.”
Myles

“I reckon if they close IMAX and Wildwalk it will attract less people to At-Bristol because people go to all of them. Now they won’t come because there’s only one attraction.”
Matt

“Please stop Bristol City Council threatening to close the best places of education ever.”
Callum

“What are they going to turn the Wildwalk and the IMAX into?”
Louis

“Some animals are delicate to travel around like the butterflies.”
Lawrence

“What you could do to save the IMAX and Wildwalk, you could put posters up everywhere in Bristol.”
Richard

“I don’t want the Wildwalk to close ever because it is so cool and exciting and sometimes I don’t want to leave but I’ve got to go.”
Louis

“The Council should fork out the extra money to keep it going because it attracts more people. People enjoy the visit and it makes Bristol a wealthier place to be.”
Mo

“What will they do with the animals?”
Harry

“Don’t let these two Attractions die down and just sort of disappear into thin air. They are such an enjoyment to Bristol.”
Jodie

“It will be a big loss to At-Bristol, the popularity will go down.”
Jack

“It will be money down the drain if it does get closed down.”
Ashleigh

“Our school love the IMAX and Wildwalk, and think it would be a huge shame for it to close. It has a big impact on our community.”
Connie

“At school we all love Wildwalk and IMAX. It would be a real shame if Wildwalk and IMAX close.”
Robyn

“I DEFINITELY DEFINITELY don’t want the IMAX and Wildwalk to close down.”
Molly

“I think (if it shuts) it will be a waste of money. It’s basically like stealing our money and chucking it in the bin! It is bad for some of the animals to be moved from Wildwalk, as some of them are very delicate.”
Georgia

“It is interesting and children learn lots from it. People from different countries would like to see it too.”
Joe

“I am very disappointed in the Council for threatening to take away our IMAX and Wildwalk, they’re both fascinating experiences for children and grownups all over the world. I think Wildwalk teaches you about the environment and the world around you.”
Louis

“When they close it because of not enough money they will still have to spend money to knock it down. But if they spend some money on making them both better they will get more visitors.”
Rory

“Everyone loves it. It is interesting.”
Chloe

“Most schools have topics on animals and plants and would like to go there for a school trip.”
Emma
